"New Windows"
I was first inspired by the colors and images from stained glass windows. Regardless of the images displayed in these windows, I was attracted to the colors themselves. These bright, rich colors are echoed in the color fields of magazines. The images, words, and advertisements in magazines are windows into our current events, and I wanted to work with the colors that occupied in-between spaces. The colors in the backgrounds, margins, and images that support the story or ad became a palette for me. Within these discarded magazines, it was the colors that took center stage as I turned past the news, stories, and products. The color started as a design in media, a printed piece for consumers, and now, new life alongside similar colors within the CMYK catalog becoming its own window of art.
